PERSONNEL & HISTORY

Exploding Daisies are :

1989 - The band forms at Maroubra High School, in year 10, with
       various boy drummers (little drummer boys?) and made the finals
       of Youthrock (a schools music competition).  The song 'You' was
       written around this time.

1990 - Runner-up in Youthrock.

1991 - Winners of Youth Rock.  Lindy Morrison (ex-Go Betweens) judged
       the final and took a keen interest in the band.

1992 - Play their first pub gigs after finishing school.  By this time
       their second male drummer had left and Rachel joined.  However,
       Lindy Morrison actually drummed live for two weeks while Rachel
       learnt some of the songs.

1993, May - Record their debut CD in Sydney's Studio 301 as part of
            their prize from Youthrock.  SBS TV's Nomad films them
            in the studio, and this turns up on the show a bit later.

1993, Oct - Launch their CD at the Annandale Hotel in Sydney.  (The
            Show is reviewed in On The Street 2/11/93 and the CD is
            reviewed in Drum Media 8/1/94)

1994, Jan - Tour with The Sharp

1994, May - The Tower Records chain in the US orders 100 copies of the
            CD then later reorders.

1994, Aug - Tour Queensland with Melbourne band, Barefoot.  Begin working 
            on a new CD.  Remix their early demo tapes in the Mittagong Studios 
            of GANGgajang's Mark Callaghan and Buzz Bidstrup.  Sales of the debut 
            CD are recorded in Washington DC and Philadelphia.

1995, Jan - Tour the East Coast of Australia with GANGgajang.

1995, Mar - Record their debut album with Graham Bidstrup at the helm.

1995, Aug - Perform last ever show at the UNSW Union bar.
