How you can help save Kakadu

Kakadu National Park contains many important habitats that are home to hundreds of different kinds of animals.

Crocodiles, turtles, fish and frogs live in the rivers and billabongs.

Jabiru storks, magpie geese and brolgas feed in the wetlands.

Possums, kangaroos, lizards and bats make their homes in the forests and woodlands.

There are also paintings on the rock walls of caves in Kakadu. These paintings were made by Aboriginal people thousands of years ago and are very special.

The animals, plants and rock paintings of Kakadu are all threatened by a uranium mine called ‘Jabiluka’.

This mine will cause pollution. Toxic waste could leak out from it and damage the Park, poisoning its water supply and also its people and animals.

If we want to protect Kakadu and the creatures who live there then everybody needs to help.
